He writes, “[There are] more good vessels belonging to the town of Boston than to all Scotland and Ireland,” he writes. He notes that this year’s fleet includes 25 ships of 100 to 300 tons; 38 of 100 tons and under, 50 brigantines, 13 ketches, 67 sloops for a total of 193 vessels.
